ACCOMMODATIONS

Two people wearing masks prepare a buffet with salads, cornbread, and various condiments.

FOOD

We are grateful to Steve Zakon-Anderson, who has served as our fabulous chef for the past four years.

In 2026, we are excited to enjoy the culinary expertise of Brattleboro Food Co-op's Potash Hill kitchen team. More info coming soon!

Meals are a big part the Romp community experience. Everyone is included. Plan to join us for meals even if you choose to stay offsite! There is no discount for missed meals.

HOUSING

RiverJam Romp takes place at Potash Hill (formerly Marlboro College) in Marlboro, Vermont. Onsite housing options include all-season dorm rooms or primitive tenting.

The cost of participation is the same whether you sleep onsite or offsite. Overnighting is reserved for full-weekend participants.

Housing preferences are first-come, first-served. The best way to ensure dorm housing is to register early and send your payment promptly.

DORMS

Potash Hill's dorms are modern, comfortable, and 100% weatherized. Nonetheless, September nights can be chilly in Vermont. Bedding, pillows, and towels are NOT provided. Please bring your own, including extra warm layers.

Dorm beds have twin XL size mattresses. All beds are floor-level (no bunks). The mattresses are very sturdy. We strongly recommend bringing a camp pad or soft mattress topper for a more comfortable sleeping experience.

Dorm rooms (single and double) are reserved for participants who are arriving before dinner (by 5:30 pm) on Friday, staying both Friday and Saturday nights, and leaving on Sunday.

Dorm availability is limited, and dorms will be assigned on a first-come, first-served basis. There are a few ADA compliant dorm rooms. If you have a special dorm or room request, please note it on your registration form.

Sleeping in buildings is allowed ONLY in dorm rooms (not hallways or common areas). Single capacity rooms can ONLY have one sleeper in them. Double capacity rooms can ONLY have two sleepers in them. There is one triple available. Beds must not be added to rooms.

Dorm keys must be kept safe all weekend and returned to us at or before check-out on Sunday. If your key is lost or returned late, you will be charged $75 to cover Potash Hill's penalty fee.

TENTING

Primitive tenting is permitted on the soccer field. Tenting in other areas is prohibited. Campers and trailers are not permitted. No vehicles are allowed to drive or park on the soccer field at any time.

We recommend arriving between 4:00-5:30pm on Friday if you plan to set up a tent, as dinner begins right at 6:00 and flows into the evening activities without a break.

Tenters may use the dorms available to us for restroom facilities and showers. There will also be a Rich Earth portajohn available near the tenting area.

Please adhere to the motto, “Leave no trace.”

COMMUTING

If you live in the area and would rather sleep in your own bed, or if you prefer another local option, that is totally fine.

We strongly encourage you to arrive in time to participate in all meals, as meals are an essential time for community building and connection.

The cost of weekend participation is the same whether you sleep onsite or offsite. There is no discount for missed meals.

PARKING

Parking for all on-campus overnighters is in a far lot. Day participants and commuters will park in a separate area. If you need an ADA accessible parking spot close to the dorms or other buildings, please let us know in advance and we will arrange it.

Sadly, there is currently no public transportation to Potash Hill, and there are no taxis, Ubers, or Lyfts in the area. If you need a ride from Brattleboro, let us know and we'll look for a willing driver!
