Meals are a big part the Romp community experience, and everyone is included. Plan to join us for meals even if you choose to stay offsite! There is no discount for missing meals.
Steve Zakon-Anderson is a New Hampshire chef, dance organizer, and dance caller with a deep passion for our local traditions and decades of experience providing delicious meals for music and dance events. He and his wife, Bettie, were the original owners of Fiddleheads Cafe in Hancock, New Hampshire. Steve infuses his friendly food expertise with laughter and fellowship in the Romp kitchen and specializes in meeting a range of needs, tastes, and preferences with every meal.
If you have special dietary needs, Chef Steve is experienced with accommodating food restrictions and will do his best to ensure that you have what you need at each meal. The registration form should cover most possible dietary needs. Let us know in advance if you have additional needs or questions not covered by the registration form.
RiverJam Romp takes place at Potash Hill (formerly Marlboro College) in Marlboro, Vermont. Onsite housing options include dorm rooms or primitive tenting.
The cost of participation is the same whether you sleep onsite or offsite.
Overnighting is reserved for full-weekend participants. Housing preferences are first-come, first-served. The best way to ensure dorm housing is to register early and send your payment promptly.
DORMS
Dorm rooms (single and double) are reserved for participants who are arriving before dinner (before 5:30) on Friday, staying for the full weekend, and leaving between 4:30-5:00 on Sunday.
As this is our first year at Potash Hill and the key assignment process is complicated, we need to be strict with our process. In future years, we hope be able to be more relaxed about dorm arrival/departure.
Dorm availability is limited and dorms will be assigned on a first-come, first-served basis. There are a few ADA compliant dorm rooms.
Sleeping in buildings is allowed ONLY in dorm rooms (not hallways or common areas). Single capacity rooms can ONLY have one sleeper in them. Double capacity rooms can ONLY have two sleepers in them. This is a firm rule; if you have questions, let us know.
Dorm keys must be kept safe all weekend and returned before leaving the Romp on Sunday. To receive your dorm key at check-in, you must provide us with a check in advance for $75 written out to "SVTM". This check will be returned to you uncashed when you return your key to us at the end of the Romp on Sunday. If your key is not returned by 5:00 pm on Sunday, your check will be cashed and used to cover Potash Hill's mandated cost of re-coring the lock.
The dorms are very comfortable and 100% weatherized, and we are excited to offer this option!
TENTING
Primitive tenting is permitted on the soccer field. Tenting in other areas is prohibited. Campers and trailers are not permitted. No vehicles are allowed on the soccer field.
We recommend arriving between 4-5pm on Friday if you plan to set up a tent, as dinner begins right at 5:30 and flows right into the evening activities without a break.
Tenters may use the dorms available to RJR for restroom facilities and showers. There will also be a Rich Earth portajohn available near the tenting area.
Please adhere to the motto, “Leave no trace.”
COMMUTING
If you live in the area and would prefer to sleep in your own bed, or if you have another local place to sleep where you would be more comfortable, that is totally fine. We highly recommend arriving in time to participate in all meals, because the weekend is so fully scheduled and meals are an important time for casual connecting.
The cost of weekend participation is the same whether you sleep onsite or offsite, and there is no discount for missed meals.
Please let us know in advance if you will be sleeping offsite so we can coordinate parking.
